The Revolution is indeed on the way, I can feel it! I was walking around downtown SF yesterday, passing all these windows of products and shiny women semi-nude in advertisements…and I had this sudden surge of hatred for society. I felt like I did not belong here, that I could not function here, that I could not breathe here. All these shiny objects, these products that we are told will fulfill us, that people take jobs in order to buy more of.
I believe that everyone has something inside of them that needs to be fulfilled, something that we are not born with. Something you must search for, a fulfillment that is the ultimate challenge in modern human beings’ lives. Instead we are convinced that THINGS, these shiny products, will fill up that inherent void in us. So we buy things, feel empty and have to buy more. It is a vicious cycle, and I truly think no one gains from it. Its not that the elite is making us feel like this so we buy more and make them richer - they also feel this emptiness.
It is time to get back to nature, to get back to things that matter, to get back to a time where humans felt fulfilled at a basic level. And move away from the time when convenience, modernity and science have made us all less human in the name of “progress.” Life has always been a challenge, and it should remain one. It is a beautiful struggle, one that should be cherished in every moment. But when we have all these conveniences that make us lazy, when we have a virtual life that oftentimes supplants what-was-before-called “real life,” when we have the greedy few taking way more than they need at the expense of the hard-working many…
Revolution must come. It will come. Because I know that I have felt so disillusioned with society recently, so disgusted with it, so ashamed of what we have become as a human race. We are ONE species, and we should be united in the fact that we are all of the Earth. We are all of the same ancestry. We are brothers and sisters. Yet society has made us into enemies, has made us competitive, ugly, hateful, greedy, gluttonous, parasitic, selfish, self-centered, short-sighted, and out-of-touch.
Revolution must come. It will come.
